Juan Bonifacio is a filmmaker and photographer based in Manila, Philippines. Juan believes stories can have a positive impact on human behavior. He started his career as a video editor and camera operator for various short films and TV series, and since then has worked on various documentary projects. One of his short films was a part of the 100 films featured in Nick De Ocampo’s Hidden Cinema: The Virtual Experience of Philippine Cinema’s Centenary exhibit. He worked as a camera operator for Khavn Dela Cruz’s “Orphea,” which premiered at the Berlinale Encounters 2020.

He holds a degree in Bachelor of Science Major in Computer Science from Ateneo De Manila University and a diploma for Motion Picture Production Program from Asia Pacific Film Institute.

A diver for 10 years, he is a certified master-level freediver and an advanced open-water scuba diver. Combining his passion for film and water, he also works as an underwater filmmaker. His current project is a full-length documentary about the sharks and rays of the Sulu Sea.
